TRUTH 01: Walking after meals is more effective than most diabetes medication

A 2022 study published in Sports Medicine found that even a 2 to 5 minute walk after eating significantly reduced blood sugar and insulin spikes compared to sitting. Short walks after meals are now being studied as a primary intervention for type 2 diabetes prevention.

The mechanism is simple. When you walk after eating your muscles absorb glucose directly from the bloodstream without requiring insulin. Blood sugar stabilises. The post meal spike — which drives insulin resistance, weight gain, energy crashes and hormonal dysfunction over time is significantly blunted.

You do not need a gym. You do not need equipment. You do not need a prescription. Ten minutes around the block after dinner is one of the most powerful metabolic tools available to you.

TRUTH 02: The sun does not cause cancer. Avoiding it does.

A 2005 study found that sun exposure was inversely proportional to death from melanoma meaning more sun exposure was associated with better melanoma survival outcomes. Living closer to the equator is consistently associated with lower rates of internal organ cancers.

The sun produces vitamin D which is not actually a vitamin. It is a hormone. And it runs your immune system, your gut lining, your hormones, your mood, your sleep and your cardiovascular health.

Vitamin D deficiency is now linked to depression, autoimmune disease, gut dysfunction, hormonal chaos, infertility and cancer. We told an entire generation to stay out of the sun. Deficiency became an epidemic.

Moderate daily sun exposure 15 to 30 minutes on bare skin is what your body was designed for. Every civilisation before ours lived in it. They did not have our chronic disease rates.

TRUTH 03: Most sunscreen contains ingredients the FDA cannot confirm are safe

In 2021 16 sunscreen ingredients were reviewed. Only two, zinc oxide and titanium dioxide were confirmed as safe and effective. Two were confirmed unsafe. The remaining 12 had insufficient safety data. They are all still legal. They are all still in your bottle.

Oxybenzone is absorbed into the bloodstream after a single application and has been detected in breast milk. It is linked to hormone disruption and thyroid tumours in animal studies. The European Commission declared current oxybenzone exposure levels unsafe in 2021.

Octinoxate was found in blood samples at 16 times the safety threshold in a 2020 study.

Independent pharmacy Valisure tested 294 sunscreens and found benzene a known human carcinogen classified by the WHO as having no safe level of exposure in 27% of them. In 2024 Johnson and Johnson settled a lawsuit where a father alleged his son died from leukaemia caused by benzene contaminated Neutrogena sunscreen.

If you are going to wear sunscreen zinc oxide only. No sprays. No oxybenzone. No octinoxate.

TRUTH 04: Salt is not your enemy. Processed food is.

A 2011 Cochrane review of 167 studies found that low salt diets had minimal impact on cardiovascular outcomes in healthy people. More recent research links chronically low sodium diets to increased insulin resistance, elevated stress hormones and adrenal dysfunction.

Every cell in your body requires sodium to function. Your adrenal glands depend on it. Your thyroid depends on it. Your nervous system depends on it. The problem was never salt. The problem was sodium hidden in ultra processed food combined with a diet stripped of the potassium and magnesium that balance it.

Real salt, sea salt, himalayan salt, celtic salt in a whole food diet is not dangerous. It is necessary.

TRUTH 05: Liver is the most nutrient dense food on the planet

Gram for gram beef liver contains more bioavailable vitamin A, B12, iron, zinc, copper and folate than any plant food on earth. The USDA nutritional database confirms liver outperforms spinach, broccoli and kale across virtually every micronutrient category.

We removed organ meat from the Western diet in one generation. We replaced it with muscle meat only and a cabinet full of supplements that absorb at a fraction of the rate of food based nutrients.

TRUTH 06: Cholesterol does not cause heart disease. Inflammation does.

A 2016 review published in BMJ Open analysed data from over 68,000 elderly people and found that high LDL cholesterol was not associated with increased cardiovascular mortality and in many cases was inversely associated with it.

The inflammation theory of heart disease is now supported by the majority of independent cardiology researchers. Chronic inflammation driven by seed oils, ultra processed food, gut dysfunction and chronic stress damages arterial walls. Cholesterol arrives at the damage site as a repair mechanism. It was never the cause.

We lowered cholesterol in millions of people with statins. Heart disease remains the number one killer. The hypothesis was wrong. The drug is still being prescribed.

TRUTH 07: The pill depletes the exact nutrients needed for fertility and mental health

A review published in the European Review for Medical and Pharmacological Sciences confirmed that oral contraceptives deplete folate, vitamins B2, B6 and B12, vitamin C and E and the minerals magnesium, selenium and zinc.

These are not minor nutrients. B6 is required for serotonin and GABA production — your calming and mood regulating neurotransmitters. Folate is critical for fetal development. Zinc is essential for hormone production and immune function. Magnesium regulates cortisol and oestrogen metabolism.

Girls are prescribed the pill at 15 or 16 for acne or period pain. A decade later they come off it to try to conceive and are told they have unexplained infertility, anxiety and hormonal dysfunction. The connection is rarely made.

The World Health Organisation flagged the nutritional impact of oral contraceptives as a topic of high clinical relevance. Most women are never told.

TRUTH 08: Depression is a gut problem being treated in the brain

Research consistently confirms that approximately 90 to 95% of the body's serotonin is produced in the gut not the brain. A landmark 2015 study published in Cell confirmed that gut bacteria directly regulate serotonin synthesis in the intestinal lining.

Antidepressant prescriptions in women have risen 400% since the early 1990s. SSRIs work by increasing serotonin availability in the brain. But if serotonin production is compromised in the gut through dysbiosis, leaky gut, poor diet or antibiotic overuse no amount of medication addresses the root cause.

The gut and the brain are in constant communication through the vagus nerve. A disrupted microbiome drives anxiety, depression, brain fog and emotional dysregulation. Healing the gut changes the brain.
