Before we start, I want to explain that there is a compounding effect that is created on the body from chronic stress.
Stress negatively impacts the health of our gut.
The gut responds from stress with various issues (listed below)
These digestive issues then create more stress on the body.
The adrenals suffer and start malfunctioning (called adrenal fatigue)
Let start with the gut.
STRESS AND GUT HEALTH
It probably won’t shock you that excessive stress can negatively affect your gut and microbiota (I believe it is one of the largest influences on our digestive health).
How does it do this?
Gut damage (leaky gut)
Decreased gut immunity (immune suppressed- long term)
These are problematic when there is chronic or long term stress.
The greatest cause of stress on the gut are:
DIET
LIFESTYLE
When you improve these, you can greatly decrease the amount of stress that is placed on your gut and heal from many of the issues listed above.
THE STRESS-GUT-ADRENAL FATIGUE CONNECTION
The adrenal glands malfunction as a DIRECT result of STRESS; therefore, the solution to adrenal fatigue is fixing the source of stress.
Some are obvious such as relationship stress, financial stress etc. Others are not as obvious such as lack of sleep, food intolerance and one major one, digestive stress.
After diet and lifestyle, the most common cause of stress on the body is the gut. So if you are struggling with the symptoms of adrenal fatigue (go back to part 1 of this series) there is no point in supporting the adrenals without first looking at the source of stress on the body.
DIET
LIFESTYLE
GUT HEALTH
Of course, you should read that list and think… ‘well, improving my diet and lifestyle will also improve my gut health’. So really they all go together and are pivotal pieces of recovering from adrenal fatigue.
WHY ARE GUT PROBLEMS SUCH A MAJOR SOURCE OF STRESS FOR THE BODY?
Inflammation - which can occur because of eating inflammatory foods or from bacterial/ fungal imbalances
Autoimmunity- brought on by problems in the small intestine (which is where most of our immune system is)
Nutrient malabsorption- damage to the gut can result in malabsorption of vital nutrients.
In order to recover from adrenal fatigue the focus should be first on gut health which then triggers questions around diet and lifestyle!
(see the diagram below)
Comment below what you feel is the main trigger of stress in your body! There could be one main thing or multiple things.
Next we will go into some practical steps you can take to heal from adrenal fatigue!
This is the best herbal tea i've ever had! It tastes very refreshing and doesn't leave a bitter or weird taste in your mouth like some herbal teas can. I use 2 tsp in a tea steep and can about 7 cups of tea out of it in a day which really helps me keep my water intake up.
I am loving these products. I am 3 weeks into my first box and feeling and looking less bloated in my gut. I also am feeling more energy. I have made positive changes to my diet without feeling like I am on a fad or restricted diet.
In conjunction with the nutrition and health advice and guidance from the loveyaguts team, I have a lot less bloating, more energy and less desire to binge!! I felt a lot better after just one week after starting the foundations box products and after a few weeks signed up for the subscription and added the beef liver capsules. Have recommended the products to a few people who experience the same issues I was. Super keen to continue healing my gut and excited to see the progress after a few months, thanks LYG team ☺️
I’m anaemic and also breastfeeding a 10 month old while trying to keep up with a 3 year old! I’ve always felt tired and meh. But since taking pregnancy and breastfeeding bundle, I definitely feel I have much more energy. Will definitely be buying this again!
The love ya guts products have been a game for my family. Love the subtle tasting teas and the gelatine is a staple in my cooking. Couldn’t be without this prescription!
Hi, everyone, I'm 71 years old, and have - as my doctor once said - "significant inflammation in many joints". His solution was to take half a dose of ibuprofen every day. It worked on my joints, but my stomach was not impressed! MSM has had the same result, without the stomach pain, which is the reason for me being involved with LYG in the first place!! This particular product is amazing!!! Thank you, LYG!
I started my foundation box on 3rd January. Mate, the first 10 days were interesting and I am careful how I incorporate the bentonite clay into my routine now. It has been 17 days and already feel the difference - no more bloating and finally I seem to be making some headway in losing weight. I am in this for the long haul.
